چکیده

Results: We found significant decreases in crosssectional whole-brain (P .001), temporal lobe (P .001), and hippocampal (P=.003) volumes and a significant increase in ventricular volume (P .001) with increasing age. Cross-sectional and longitudinal estimates of atrophy rates were similar. We also found directional evidence of acceleration in atrophy rates with increasing age in all analyses, with the most marked changes occurring after 70 years of age. This increase in rates after 70 years of age was particularly marked in the ventricles (P .001) and the hippocampi (P=.01).

Brain Structural Changes Caused by Autism Spectrum Disorder Based on Volumetric Analysis of Magnetic Resonance Images: A Review Study

Background and purpose: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a psychiatric disorder which occurs in early years of life and causes various individual and social problems. Early detection of autism would help in taking necessary precautions and preventing its adverse side effects. Methods & Materials: In this paper, we reviewed the articles that have investigated brain structural changes caused by...

Sexual Dimorphism in Volume of the Cerebral Hemispheres and Lateral Ventricles in Schizophrenia Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Purpose: This study is designed to determine the sexual dimorphism pattern in volume of the cerebral hemispheres and lateral ventricles in schizophrenia using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to compare it with normal sexual dimorphism pattern in healthy brains. Materials and Methods: This study is performed on 29 healthy volunteers (21 males, 8 females) and 29 patients suffered from schiz...

Generating Synthetic Computed Tomography and Synthetic Magnetic Resonance (sMR: sT1w/sT2w) Images of the Brain Using Atlas-Based Method

Introduction: Nowadays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in combination with computed-tomography (CT) is increasingly being used in radiation therapy planning. MR and CT images are applied to determine the target volume and calculate dose distribution, respectively. Since the use of these two imaging modalities causes registration uncertainty and increases department w...

Effect of Bias in Contrast Agent Concentration Measurement on Estimated Pharmacokinetic Parameters in Brain Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging Studies

Introduction: Pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is widely applied in tumor diagnosis and treatment evaluation. Precision analysis of the estimated PK parameters is essential when they are used as a measure for therapy evaluation or treatment planning. In this study, the accuracy of PK parameters in brain DCE...

A longitudinal study of brain morphometrics using serial magnetic resonance imaging analysis in a canine model of aging.

Longitudinal changes in cortical atrophy, ventricular enlargement, and lesion development in serial MRI scans collected from 47 healthy dogs from 1999 (8-11 years old) to 2002 (11-14 years old) were studied. The first method involved manual region of interest volumetric analysis to examine changes in cerebral and ventricular volume during the three years. No change in cerebral volume was detect...
